We are pleased to draw your attention to a joint conference of the Swiss Forum for Communication Law (SF-FS), the Center for Information Technology, Society, and Law (ITSL) and the Center for Cultural Law (ZKR) of the Zurich University of the Arts.

 

Newspapers, social media and blogs are full of them: More and more people are buying digital images, videos, tweets or objects in virtual worlds - sometimes at astronomical sums. For the first time cryptographic processes seem to offer the possibilityto make digital originals identifiable as such and tradable. In expert circles, one speaks of the "tokenisation" of assets or the creation of so-called non-fungible tokens, or NFT for short. Can we observe a paradigm shift here or is a crypto bubble just forming in the art market? The conference, which will classify and critically examine the new phenomenon, will attempt to find initial answers to these questions.
