About ITSL
Our everyday lives are increasingly affected by information technology. While technological development is advancing at a rapid pace, its impact on society is often difficult to foresee. The law is generally only able to respond appropriately once the opportunities and risks for society have been identified in broad terms.
Through an interdisciplinary approach, the Center for Information Technology, Society, and Law (ITSL) examines interactions among developments in information technology, the associated changes in society and the legal system. To this end, it brings together experts from computer science, philosophy, communication, economics, psychology, sociology, geography, ethics and law.
The ITSL was established in 2015 and recognised by the University of Zurich as a centre of competence. It is affiliated with the Faculty of Law.
